Valentine´s Day Vintage Paper Garland

My husband makes us breakfast every morning. As he usually has to take something out of the kitchen cupboard, I thought it would be a good opportunity to show him a gentle reminder that Valentine´s Day is coming. Even if it´s still January, the day will come. For this "real life newsfeed", I used two hand made garlands. One is heart ribbon crochet and the other one I cut out of vintage paper.

Valentine's Day Preparations

This Sunday is all about getting ready for Valentine´s Day. For me, this means that I am trying out new cake recipes and I also bring up the decorations. For our neighbors this means, free Sunday afternoon cake delivered directly to their house. As I am a big fan of 'dry' coffee cakes, I tried this Cream Cheese Coffee Cake with Cinnamon Streusel. Yummy.

Pink hasn´t even started yet

Today, something funny in German. I found this in a Swiss news magazine. A very nice review of my book. Although, absolutely no reason to pity my hubby. He knows what he is doing. Valentine`s Day is coming up next month, so he is aware that the color Pink hasn´t even started in the house yet.

Apple Oatmeal Cinnamon Bars

Today my friend Julia (the one from my book who makes the Macarons, www.monkeyjolie.de) is visiting. Although, it´s kind of sad, as she'll be moving to Switzerland soon. In order to make sure not to become too melancholic, I decided to bake something that combines her two most favorite cake ingredients. Apple and Cinnamon. I am sure she likes it.

The weekend I am most afraid of

I know, the weekend where we take down the Christmas decoration will come eventually every year, but when it´s actually there this means a couple of thing. Worst of all, no denying, it means "Christmas is over". I wish it could have lasted longer, but that´s how it is. The second thing is, we have to work more or less the entire weekend to take down the decorations and store them in the attic. On the pic you see just the stuff that was in the living room. I spare you the rest and motivate myself by looking forward to the upcoming Valentine's Day decorating season (Yes, it sure is a season to me).
